Four month Gozo Promotion by MTA comes to a close

Malta Independent Thursday, 13 October 2011, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

The four month Gozo promotion at the Duty Free Store at the Malta International Airport came to a close on 7 October and yesterday saw the lottery draw for a weekend break for two, won by a Japanese visitor.

The Malta Tourism Authority teamed up with The Nuance Group (Malta) Ltd, who run the Duty Free Store locally, to further promote Gozo through the in store promotion Taste of Malta.  The promotion targeted visitors leaving Malta with the aim of raising Gozo’s profile as a holiday destination in its own right.

With every €10 spent on Maltese and Gozitan products bought from the Duty Free Store, departing visitors were handed a lottery ticket entitling them to participate in the draw of a weekend break for two at the Kempinski Hotel Gozo, with flights on Air Malta from any destination it operates.

In all, over the four months of the promotion covering most of June, July, August and September around 40,000 tickets were distributed.  The lucky winner of the prize hails from Japan and will be visiting Gozo in the next six months.
